Independent Medical Evaluations (IME) and Related Services

We provide high-quality Psychiatric Independent Medical Evaluations and related services to Insurance Companies, Third Party Administrators, Municipalities, Attorneys, Employers, and Government Agencies. We also provide Assessments for Reinstatement of Ontario Driver’s Licenses.

Our Psychiatrists provide detailed clinical findings and comprehensive narrative psychiatric reports, including psychiatric and psychometric rating scales, that are specifically tailored to the type of referral questions and address such issues as causal relationship of the disability, severity of psychiatric conditions and specific disabling symptoms, treatment, rehabilitation options and timelines.

All reports undergo an extensive quality assurance review and are completed within seven business days. Our psychiatrists are familiar with legal claims for Workman’s Compensation, Liability, and Disability claims, and available to testify at legal hearings.

Appointments for a psychiatric assessment can easily be arranged by phone or fax. Please feel free to fill out one of our PDF-format referral forms and fax it to us.

We are conveniently located in Burlington, Ontario, at the centre of the Golden Horseshoe, a dynamic and rapidly developing area, which allows access for a large patient population from Toronto to Niagara. We are located near major highway, train and bus routes. See our Locaton and Contact pages for details.

Insurer's Examinations
These evaluations are usually requested by insurance companies, occasionally by attorneys. We also provide evaluations for psychiatric disability and reinstatement of drivers license for clients. However we do not provide forensic or court ordered evaluations.

The party making the referral is responsible for providing the necessary collateral information for the preparation of the report. Individual insurance companies can request the evaluations to be performed according to specific policy requirements and submit questionnaires with requests for answers to additional questions.

The reports will address the following areas:
   - Referral Information
   - List of reference materials and of interviews utilized in the preparation of the report.
   - Review and summary of pertinent collateral information (medical and psychiatric records,
     accounts of acquaintances, co-workers, etc.).
   - Detailed background information of the client.
   - Recent and Past psychiatric history
   - Medical history, Substance abuse history.
   - Present Mental Status Exam
   - Personality Profiles and Neuro-cognitive Screening test
   - Description of the functioning of the client prior to and after becoming disabled
   - Diagnostic Impression and severity of Impairment.
   - Reasoning as to how the diagnostic impression has been reached.
   - Relationship of present impairment to client's ability to work (in specific occupation and related fields).
   - Client's historical interest in the specific occupation.
   - Personality, psycho-social, and other factors contributing to disability.
   - Issue of malingering (feigning signs and symptoms of mental illness).
   - Summary of previous treatment and an opinion as to whether or not adequate/optimal treatment
     was received by client.
   - Prognosis/Need for additional treatment.
   - Date and Place of the Evaluation, and time spent for the preparation of the report.
   - Statement of non-confidentiality.

Note for psychiatric evaluations referrals by insurance companies and employers. Please do not send any confidential information until professional relationship has been established. The evaluator retains the right to refuse to become involved in a case for undisclosed reasons.
